Title: Bookkeeper, LION Publishers (contract, part-time)
LION Publishers is a journalism association supporting independent local online news publishers. Our mission is to help local news entrepreneurs build and grow financially sustainable small businesses. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization administered in the state of Pennsylvania, with a distributed staff.
LION’s revenue and operations director will be the primary contact for all financial duties. Along with the executive director, they will oversee all budgeting, banking, general ledger allocations, and policy compliance. Both staff handles all internal and external communications about the company’s finances to other staff, the LION board of directors, funders, clients and the general public. The company will engage with a separate, independent auditor as needed.
We are searching for contractor(s) who can help us with maintaining the general ledger in Quickbooks Online, as well as serve as an independent GAAP advisor. This will average about ten hours per month.
This is the anticipated routine monthly work, and may vary as needed.
- Monthly reconciliations
- Upload / maintain receipts in QBO
- Produce monthly reports for staff/leadership
- Quarterly reconciliations of tax, benefits and payroll payments
- Create journal entries as needed
- Attend regular calls with staff to provide general support / advisement
- Monthly payroll entries
- Monthly journal entries
- Monthly grant and program budget allocations
