This is the largest-ever gathering of local indie online news publishers that LION has organized, with more than 100 represented from 30 different U.S. states.
Today's schedule includes presentations and discussions on revenue and sustainability for both nonprofit and for-profit onlline local news organizations, legal issues facing online news sites, preserving digital archives, lessons learned from publishers who've shut down or left the business, crowdfunding, membership programs, reaching under-served communities, advertising sales in small organizations, public service and investigative reporting in small organizations and how to avoid burnout.
