Book a revenue consultation with LION Revenue Coach Penda Howell
For the next four weeks, Penda is opening up his calendar to speak with members about revenue.

Since joining LION, I’ve heard many questions from members, including, “How can I earn more revenue from my newsletter, website and social media channels?” and “Is my pricing appropriate?” and “Is my go-to-market strategy and marketing collateral right?”
While we’ve answered some of those in our Dear Penda columns, it’s time for one-on-one support. So in order to answer your questions more fully and individually, starting today and through the end of September, I’m opening up my time to offer 30-minute consultations with LION members. Members can book time with me on a first come, first served basis.
Most recently I was the Chief Revenue Officer and Head of Advertising, Sales, and Partnerships at the New York Amsterdam News, and have been a board member, national advertising and partnerships consultant, and regional marketing chair for the National Newspaper Publishers Association, the oldest professional trade organization for Black-owned publications. I also recently took part in the Local Media Association’s Branded Content Project, am an alum of the Executive Leadership in Business program at Rutgers University, and an alum of the Maynard Institute’s Executive Leadership in Media program, also known as the Maynard 200, a program that was held on-campus at the University of Southern California.
Here are some things I can advise you on in our consultation:
- Creating a media kit
- Creating a branded content strategy
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with sponsors and/or advertisers
- Designing a major donors strategy
- Monetizing your newsletter
After this time, the LION team will assess how we might be able to make this, and other consulting hours, an ongoing offering for members.
